Mr. Kumar directed the authorities concerned to immediately arrest those involved in post-poll violence and vandalism in the State.
Three people, including a close aide of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, have been killed in alleged incidents of post-poll violence in the State since results of Assembly polls were declared on Monday (May 4, 2026).

“Those responsible for inciting violence and carrying out acts of vandalism must be arrested immediately,” a senior official said quoting the CEC’s instructions.
The State authorities have intensified vigil across districts, with coordinated efforts between the police and central forces to prevent any untoward incident, he added.

ECI sources said that the CEC also directed that officials hold joint press conferences in all districts to convey message of zero tolerance towards violence.
The West Bengal Assembly polls were held in two phases on April 23 and 29. The counting of votes took place on May 4 with the BJP emerging victorious with 207 seats in the 294-member assembly. The incumbent Trinamool Congress secured 80 seats.
