Tangedco AE, Foreman booked for worker’s electrocution near Perungudi
Perungudi police have booked a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against four persons in connection with electrocution of a temporary worker with Tangedco, A. Kandasamy, 49, when he was attending to a technical fault in an overhead electric cable near Perungudi here on Tuesday.
Kandasamy’s wife Selvi, 40, raised suspicion over his death, claiming that one of the four persons, including Assistant Engineer Arun Prasd and Foreman A. Krishnan Kandavel, had wantonly switched on power supply with a malacious intention to kill him.
The police said Kandasamy, who had been working as temporary worker with Tangedco for over 25 years, had climbed up the electric pole on Aruppukottai Highway only on the instruction of the AE.
He had switched off the power supply on the overhead cables. However, someone had switched on the supply leading to his electrocution.
Perungudi police have booked the AE, Foreman and two others in this connection. Further investigation is under way.
