Three children, including two siblings, drown in temple tank

In a tragic incident, three children, including two siblings, drowned in a temple tank at Kondapur village in Medipalli mandal of Jagtial district on Wednesday.

A visit to a relative’s village to attend a family function ended in tragedy for Rajender’s family from Jagtial on Wednesday afternoon after Rajender’s two children – Manvith, 13, and Manaswi, 11, drowned in the local temple tank.  Sarvind Shiva, 7, son of Shekar, a resident of Kondapur, who accompanied the brother-sister duo, also drowned, leaving the two families shattered.

While their family members were at their relative’s house near Shiva Ganga Temple in Kondapur attending a function, the trio had gone to the temple tank late in the afternoon.  They reportedly slipped into the tank while playing and subsequently drowned, one after the other, sources said.

The bodies of the three children were retrieved from the tank and shifted to the mortuary in Jagtial town.

Grief enveloped the village following the tragic drowning incident.
