Matka King S2: Vijay Varma-starrer renewed for season 2

Vijay Varma’s period-drama series Matka King will be renewed for season 2, streaming platform Prime Video announced on Wednesday (May 7, 2026). Directed by Nagraj Manjule, the first season of the show was released on Prime Video on April 17.

Created and written by Abhay Koranne and Nagraj, the series was set in 1960s Bombay and told a high-stakes story around Matka gambling. Apart from Vijay, the eight-episode series also starred Kritika Kamra, Sai Tamhankar, Siddharth Jadhav, Bhupendra Jadawat, and Gulshan Grover in pivotal roles.

As per the streaming platform, Matka King emerged as the most-watched new scripted series on the service in the last two years, trending in the Top 10 across 37 countries and ranking #1 in 17 countries within its opening week.

Matka King is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur, Nagraj Manjule, Gargi Kulkarni, Ashwini Sidwani, and Ashish Aryan under the banners of Roy Kapur Films, Aatpat, and SMR Entertainment.
