The Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights is considering recommending to the State government that birthdates of bride and groom be mentioned on marriage invitations to curb child marriages and teenage motherhood in the State.
“We are planning to write to the Rajasthan government, which has a similar policy in place. We will study the policy, existing laws, and then send a proposal to the Maharashtra Government,” Pankaj Deore, Secretary of the Commission, told The Hindu on Wednesday.
