Insurance firm told to pay ₹30-lakh compensation to widow

The Permanent Lok Adalat has directed TATA AIG General Insurance Company Limited to pay ₹30 lakh with 9% interest to the widow of the Office Superintendent of Tamil Nadu Special Police Battalion, who suffered a fatal fall in his house.

K. Varadharaj of Vickramasingapuram, Office Superintendent of Tamil Nadu Special Police’s Manimuthar Battalion, was found unconscious near the bathroom in the first floor of his house on August 22, 2022. Even though his wife Malathi rushed him to hospital, the doctors declared him ‘brought dead’ and sent the body to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem.
