The organisers of rapper Ye’s concert, Ye Live in India, which was scheduled for May 23 announced on Friday that the concert in New Delhi has been cancelled owing to “directives issued by officials”.
Kanye West, now performing as Ye, was set to make a splash with his debut concert, Ye Live in India, with thousands of fans expected to attend. The organisers, White Fox however shared that they were disheartened to announce that the concert would not proceed

.“After months of planning and preparation for what is set to become one of the largest live productions staged in India, the safety and well-being of attendees and the citizens of India remains the highest priority during this sensitive time,” their statement read.
The rapper was originally scheduled to perform earlier this year on March 29 at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in New Delhi. That concert was then rescheduled to May 23, and the organisers had then attributed it to the then prevailing geopolitical and regional tensions.
For fans who were to attend the concert on May 23, the organisers have said that full refunds will be issued to all valid ticket holders who had purchased their tickets through District, within five to seven business dates. Tickets had been priced upwards of ₹7,000 and going upto ₹25,000.
They have also said that talks are ongoing with the artiste’s team, to secure a new date and venue.
Despite several international musicians making a beeline for India, this year has been rocky with multiple postponements and cancellations. While John Mayer was also set to perform his debut concert in India on January 22 in Mumbai, the concert was rescheduled to February 11 owing to ‘unforseen circumstances’, leaving several fans from across the country who had made travel arrangements scrambling to make alternate arrangements for the new date. Singer Shakira, was scheduled to perform in April in Mumbai, and the concert was then rescheduled to later this year, with no specific date announced yet. The Scorpions ‘Coming Home India Tour’ scheduled for April was cancelled, owing to “unforeseen medical circumstances affecting the band members”.
