Congress leaders and workers in Shivamogga staged a protest against the Central government over rising prices of petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders, as well as the alleged leak of the NEET question paper.
The party workers representing the north block committee assembled at Shivappa Nayaka Circle and raised slogans against the Narendra Modi-led government. They alleged the BJP government showed no concern for the poor, who were bearing the brunt of rising fuel and LPG prices. They also said the NEET paper leak had left over 22 lakh students in distress.
Addressing the gathering, Congress leader Yogesh H.C. said, “Mr. Modi had promised during his tenure that fuel and LPG prices would come down. Instead, prices had risen to levels that many people could no longer afford.”
He further demanded that Mr. Modi and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan take responsibility for the NEET paper leak. “A majority of students affected by the paper leak are Hindus, in whose name the BJP came to power. Yet, BJP leaders, including those representing Shivamogga, have remained silent on the issue,” he said.
KPCC secretary N. Ramesh and others participated in the protest.
