Visakhapatnam invites applications for Social Welfare Hostels for 2026-27 from June 12

The Social Welfare Department of Visakhapatnam district has issued a notification on Monday (May 18, 2026), inviting applications for admission to pre-matric and post-matric Social Welfare Hostels for the academic year 2026-27. The application process will begin on June 12, 2026.

Students from Class 3 to Class 10 are eligible for pre-matric hostels. Those enrolled from the Intermediate to post-graduate level may apply for post-matric accommodation. The Department said the initiative seeks to provide a robust educational environment for children from economically weaker and marginalised sections of society.

Residents will be provided with nutritious meals, safe drinking water through RO plants, monthly personal care allowances of ₹200, and essential study materials. Weekly slip tests, graded assessments, and special coaching for Class 10 students, particularly in English, Mathematics, Science, and Hindi, form the core of the academic support framework. Students performing below grade will receive focussed remedial instruction.

Beyond academics, the hostels will engage students in co-curricular pursuits, kitchen garden development, cultural programmes, and leadership activities. Monthly parent-teacher meetings and advisory committee sessions are also mandated.
