Outgoing Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin retained his Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni Assembly constituency, defeating the TVK’s D. Selvam on Monday (May 4, 2026). With outgoing Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin losing his Kolathur seat, the responsibility of leading the party may fall on Mr. Udhayanidhi, who has won the seat for the second time.
D. Selvam, who lost the seat to Mr. Udhayanidhi, is a former Congressman, who joined the TVK before the run-up to Assembly polls.
