
SWR conducts internal safety audit in Bantwal-Sakaleshpur section

The Headquarters Safety Team of the South Western Railway conducted an internal safety audit in the Sakleshpur–Bantwal section for two days, starting Thursday, May 21.
During the audit, detailed inspections were carried out at various critical locations, including level crossing gates, track curves, switch expansion joints, major and minor bridges, points and crossings, major and minor stations, tunnels, the Medical Relief Van, electrical assets, crew lobbies, running rooms, relay rooms, and the track machine staff camping coaches, a South Western Railway release said.
The safety audit also covered the inspection of track conditions, yard layouts, battery rooms, signalling systems, station panels, traction substations, sectioning and paralleling posts, and other safety-related installations.
The primary objective of the audit was to ensure strict adherence to the prescribed safety protocols and operational rules at stations and section locations, and to further strengthen safety standards in railway operations, the release said.
The audit was led by senior officials from the headquarters, including M. Ramakrishna, Principal Chief Safety Officer, and E. Harikrishnan, Chief Passenger Transportation Manager.
