Overspeeding car hits stationed lorry, four killed
Four persons were killed in a road accident that took place in the early hours of Tuesday near Perapuram of Pusapatirega mandal in Vizianagaram district. According to Vizianagaram Superintendent of Police A. R. Damodar, the driver of the car, who was travelling from Srikakulam to Visakhapatnam lost control and rammed into a stationary lorry near Perapuram. The vehicle also hit two pedestrians before ramming into the stationary lorry. Of the four persons in the car, two, including a Visakhapatnam-based contractor, Srinivas were killed on the spot.
Mr. Damodar who visited the spot said that the car was over-speeding and hit the lorry parked on National Highway-16, resulting in the accident. He warned that the department would book cases on drivers who illegally park their vehicles on roads. “Many accidents occur due to lorries and other vehicles parked on the roads, instead of the designated parking areas.”
