Maharashtra Govt signs MoUs of ₹6.5 lakh crore to generate 25,400 MW of nuclear power


Maharashtra government on Tuesday (May 19, 2026) signed MoUs worth ₹6.5 lakh crore with companies for 25,400 MW nuclear power generation. 

Adani Power Limited will invest ₹1.5 lakh crore in the State, which will generate 6,000 MW of power, generating 12,000 jobs, Reliance Industries will invest ₹2 lakh crore, generating 7,200 MW of power and over one lakh jobs, NTPC Limited promised to invest ₹1 lakh crore, expecting to generate 7,200 MW of power and 5,000 jobs, and Lalitpur Power Generation Company Limited (Bajaj Industries Group) will invest ₹2 lakh crore in the State.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “The investment coming to the State in the clean energy generation sector will strengthen the country to become an energy-rich nation.” 

During the meeting held at the Ministry, four companies signed MoUs, including NTPCL (National Thermal Power Corporation Limited), Adani Power Company, Reliance Industries Limited, and Lalitpur Power Generation Company Limited (Bajaj Udyog Group). 

Highlighting the opportunities in the field of clean energy generation, Mr. Fadnavis said, “The State will progress faster in energy generation and the investment in the sector will provide employment opportunities.”

State Energy Minister Atul Save, Additional Chief Secretary of the Power Department Abha Shukla, Chief General Manager of NTPC Limited A. P. Samal, Business Head of Adani Power Company Vivek Sharma, President of Nuclear Energy Business of Reliance Industries Ranjay Sharan and others attended the meeting. 

The MoUs are the State’s efforts to align with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal to make India an energy-rich nation and achieve zero carbon emissions.

According to CMO, the concerned companies should conduct a survey of the project sites to take swift action to implement the MoU and the State government will cooperate with them in this work.
