Large scale disruptions in the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation’s (TGSRTC) bus services were witnessed on Wednesday (April 22, 2026) from morning, with workers of the state-run transport undertaking going on an indefinite stir. They demanded that they be treated as State government employees, citing delays in pay revision and other worker welfare-related issues.
Over the past few weeks, the TGSRTC workers’ union, which took the shape of a joint action committee (JAC), had threatened to go on strike if their demands were not met. A strike notice had been issued in the run-up to the stir, with the union stating that boycotting duties was a last resort after talks with authorities failed on Tuesday night.
