This Tuesday marks 500 years of the Mughals. And it’s big news, not just for the significant anniversary.
After Babur, a prince from Central Asia, defeated the Delhi Sultanate’s Ibrahim Lodi on April 21, 1526, the Mughal dynasty shaped much of the subcontinent’s political, economic, social, and cultural landscape for the next three centuries. Something that Hindu nationalists would like Indians to forget.
