Passenger car sales continued to gain momentum in April 2026, backed by the velocity created by the September cut in GST rates. Most automobile companies reported a double-digit growth and less inventory, indicating sustained demand despite the West Asia conflict.
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., the country’s biggest passenger car maker, sold a total of 239,646 units, which is its highest-ever monthly sales volume as compared with 1,79,791 units sold in the year-ago period, up 33%.
