Rekindling memories by visiting old haunts.

Few can resist the overpowering lure of an old childhood haunt. Somehow it holds a strong emotional attachment for most of us. Indeed, the very prospect of returning to one’s “roots”, as it were, enthuses one considerably, making one look forward to it eagerly.
Recently, I precisely did that. I visited a much-loved but long-forgotten retreat on the outskirts of Munnar — a secluded rainbow-trout fishing nook that I had frequented as a boy in the 1950s. Though now teeming with thousands of tourists (rather than trout!), this little sylvan hangout, quite incredibly, had not changed at all.
