
Vijay Sethupathi confirms new film with Mani Ratnam; a reunion after 7 years

Over the last few months, there have been speculations that Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi is teaming up with veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam for an upcoming film. Now, the actor has confirmed the project.
During an interview with The Hindu for his upcoming JioHotstar series Kaattaan, Vijay was asked about his line-up of films. “All the films I am currently working on are exciting. Slum Dog (directed by Puri Jagannadh) is a script I loved. I am also excited by Balaji Tharaneedharan’s next film. Then there’s Pocket Novel (directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja), Mani sir’s film, andFarzi 2 (helmed by Raj & DK),” he said. “My stories and my directors are why work blossoms beautifully,” he added.

Other details regarding the Mani Ratnam project are under wraps. According to several reports, actor Sai Pallavi has been roped in to play the female lead.
Notably, the upcoming film will mark a reunion between Vijay and Mani Ratnam after their 2018 film, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam.
Last seen in the silent film Gandhi Talks, Vijay Sethupathi also has Jailer 2, headlined by Rajinikanth; Train, directed by Mysskin; and Arasan, the upcoming Vetri Maaran film headlined by Silambarasan TR, in the pipeline. Mani Ratnam last helmed the gangster movie Thug Life, starring Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan and Trisha.
