India cricket team stars took the Bronco test at the ICC Academy in Dubai on Saturday ahead of the Asia Cup 2025. The new fitness assessment has been introduced based on Strength and Conditioning (S&C) coach Adrian Le Roux. While reports earlier claimed that the Indian cricketers took the new fitness assessment in addition to the Yo-Yo test at the Centre of Excellence (CoE), it was later clarified that that was not the case and that it would happen in Dubai for the T20I stars if at all.

As per RevSportz, members of Team India took the Bronco test during their second practice session on Saturday in Dubai. Players including Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy, Rinku Singh, Arshdeep Singh among others were reportedly spotted taking part in the new fitness assessment. Team India had their first practice session before the Asia Cup on Friday and will play their tournament opener on September 10 against UAE.

The report stated that the Bronco test isn’t a part of the selection process but is jus a fitness assessment and that some members of the Indian team had taken the Test during the preparatory camp in Beckenham before the IND vs ENG Test series.

What is the Bronco test?

A player will start with a 20m shuttle run which will be followed by a 40m and a 60m run. Together, it constitutes one set. A player is expected to do five such sets (amounting to 1200 m) without taking a break. The report states that the Indian cricketers have been asked to complete the Bronco test in a span of 6 minutes. In the 2-km time trial, the benchmark for fast bowlers was 8 minutes and 15 seconds. For batsmen, wicket-keepers and spinners, it was 8 minutes and 30 seconds.
