Suspected activists of the Telugu Desam Party attacked the house of former Minister and YSR Congress Party leader Jogi Ramesh within the NTR Police Commissionerate limits on Sunday.

The protestors alleged that the former Minister had made objectionable remarks against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, and raised slogans against Mr. Ramesh.

According to YSRCP leaders, the agitators removed banners displayed in front of his residence at Ibrahimpatnam, barged into the house, set fire to furniture and damaged glass panes.

Neighbours said panic gripped the area when flames erupted from the upper floor of the building, forcing residents to run for safety.

Mr. Jogi Ramesh and his family members were not present in the house at the time of the incident, a neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said.

Tension prevailed at Ibrahimpatnam junction and near the former Minister’s residence following the attack, which took place in broad daylight.

On learning about the incident, YSRCP activists rushed to the spot and raised slogans against the TDP.
