Shubman Gill-Abhishek Sharma engage in verbal fight with Shaheen Afridi-Haris Rauf in IND vs PAK match

Abhishek Sharma and Shaheen Afridi had started to exchange words after the first ball of the second innings was bowled.

The clock has been rolled. We’ve just entered the 1990s in Dubai. The time when Indian and Pakistani players fought is back. After more than a decade of greetings and handshakes, we are seeing emotions truly come out.

Pakistan had taken an early advantage. The Men in Green were 91/1 after 10 overs. India had helped them with multiple drops but still pulled the game in their favour, restricting Pakistan to just 171 in the end. We had heard prior to the match that Pakistan were charged up after the whole handshake gate.

Gill-Abhishek fight with Shaheen-Haris

Their bowlers, Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf, had brought a newfound aggression. They were at Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma from ball one. But the Indian openers were ready to give it back. On the very first ball, Abhishek smacked the ball out of the park and abused Shaheen.

The tiff didn’t end there. In the third over, Gill started abusing Shaheen as well. The left-arm pacer was chirping at both openers and hitting two boundaries; the Indian vice-captain charged at him. Shades of Aamer Sohail and Venkatesh Prasad were there, as Gill pointed at the area where he hit Shaheen for a four. The difference was that Shaheen didn’t clean him up.

When Haris came to bowl the fifth over, he also started having a go at Abhishek. But neither he nor Gill was having any of it. Although Haris was exchanging words with Abhishek, Gill was the one who took offence and chirped back after hitting him for a boundary at the end of the over. It was then that Haris started pointing fingers, and Abhishek told the pacer to walk back to his mark in not-so-kind words.
