
LPG crisis forces Bengaluru hotels to try kerosene stove, induction cooktop; eateries to cut down on timings
“This is the first time I have faced such a situation in the last 26 years. Suddenly, we have been told there will be no gas supply. Now what do we do?” said Basavaraja M.S. of Dosa Mane in Rajajinagar, as eateries across Bengaluru struggle with an abrupt disruption in the supply of commercial LPG cylinders.
While large hotel chains in the city are managing with piped gas connections, medium and small-scale eateries have been hit the hardest. In an attempt to keep their kitchens running, many restaurants have turned to alternatives such as kerosene stoves, induction cooktops, and even wood-fired cooking amid what hoteliers describe as a near-total shortage of commercial LPG cylinders.

With the uncertainty continuing for a second day, several establishments have begun cutting down on “operating hours” apart from the menu options.
