Lingering uncertainty
Apropos ‘MPC factors in ceasefire to keep repo rate unchanged’ (April 9), the RBI’s cautious, wait-and-watch outlook is on expected lines as India braces for the long-term ramifications of the conflict in West Asia on its economy. Despite India’s strong macroeconomic fundamentals, the delayed and inadequate restoration of supply chains is bound to impact both growth and inflation figures. Minimising the unsettling of the broader economy in the face of rising global uncertainties is the real test.
