JCB A45E electric articulating boom

British equipment experts JCB have developed a fully electric articulated boom lift that delivers the reach, maneuverability, and all-day productivity contractors expect, but without the emissions, noise, or fuel bills of diesel. Meet the A45E Articulated Boom Access Platform.
Part of JCB’s E-Tech range of electric equipment, the new JCB A45E Access Platform promises all the performance of diesel with zero on-site emissions, making it ideal for use on indoor jobs or on sites where noise, vibrations, and emissions must be kept to a minimum. And, with a payload that was recently increased from 250 kg (~550 lb.) to 300 kg (~650 lb.), the “E” version of the A45 might just be better in any context.
JCB shared a new LinkedIn video of the A45E — an ideal opportunity to showcase the near-silent operation of its electric boom lift, if they hadn’t buried it under a dramatic movie-trailer soundtrack. You can check it out for yourself, below:
In fairness, the video does showcase the A45E’s industry-leading 300 kg (660 lb.) platform capacity, and the standard 4WD that gives operators precise positioning control throughout the job site. The machine’s 45′ 3″ platform height is right in line with other machines in this class, and the ability to control the platform from a touchscreen base display allows operators to keep everything dialed in from the ground.
The updated A45E joins JCB’s expanding “E-Tech” lineup of electric construction equipment that includes compact excavators, scissor-lifts, dumpers, telehandlers, and wheel loaders. They’ll be on-hand at next month’s CONEXPO event in Las Vegas, along with (maybe) one or two new additions.
We’ll just have to wait and see.
