Iran-Israel war LIVE: Israel launches fresh wave of strikes on Beirut, Tehran after attack by Hezbollah, IRGC

Israel’s military said on Thursday (March 12, 2026) Iranian missiles were heading towards Israel and that air defences were active as AFP correspondents heard blasts from Jerusalem, before Israel announced “wide-scale” strikes on Tehran and Hezbollah.

The alert came after Iranian media reported that Iran’s Revolutionary Guards had carried out a joint missile operation with Tehran’s Lebanese ally Hezbollah.

The Israeli military urged people in affected areas to head to shelters, as it said it “identified missiles launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel”.
