Pakistan has no answers for Abhishek Sharma

Abhishek Sharma continued his red-hot form in Asia Cup 2025. The left-hander smashed a quick-fire half-century in the IND vs PAK clash on Sunday. Chasing 172 to win, Abhishek smashed Pakistan to all parts of the ground in a record breaking performance in a crunch clash. He finished with 74 off just 39 balls, effectively killing off the game. Abhishek also became the fastest to hit 50 sixes in T20Is. The 25-year-old has 52 sixes at the time of writing in just 20 innings. In terms of ball faced, Sharma got the milestone in just 331 balls, 35 quicker than West Indian Evin Lewis.

No handshakes but tempers flare in Dubai

India cricket team captain Suryakumar Yadav refused to shake hands with Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha once again in the IND vs PAK, Super 4 tie at Asia Cup on Sunday. Controversy erupted after the two skippers refused to shake hands when the two sides met on September 14. This triggered a row, which is still yet to be resolved. Post game, there were no pleasantries again, as was the case in last week’s encounter.

While there were no handshakes, there was plenty of exchanges between the two sides. Sahibzada Farhan triggered it with a ‘gun celebration’ following his half-century. In India’s chase, Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill both had multiple instances of engaging in verbal duels with Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf.

India’s fielding problem

India had an off day in the field. Abhishek Sharma dropped two catches, which Sahibzada Farhan converted well into a half-century. Kuldeep Yadav dropped a sitter to handed a reprieve to Saim Ayub. Later Shubman Gill also put down a fairly simple catch off Jasprit Bumrah’s final over. India’s catching efficiency is under 70 per cent, and Surya and Co will need to pull their socks up for the rest of the Asia Cup 2025.
