TDP State president and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao said the coalition government accelerated its efforts to provide a permanent solution to the housing needs of the poor across the State.

The State government on Monday handed over over 2 lakh TIDCO houses to beneficiaries across the State. TIDCO houses at Talaruvanipalem in Gajuwaka constituency were handed over to beneficiaries in the presence of Mr. Srinivasa Rao, Visakhapatnam In-charge Minister Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy and BJP MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju. As many as 1,393 houses were allotted to beneficiaries in Gajuwaka.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said 2.5 lakh TIDCO houses are being distributed in the current phase alone. Recalling that 3 lakh houses were handed over during the first phase last year, he said the ongoing second phase adds another 2.5 lakh units, taking the total to 5.5 lakh houses completed and delivered within a span of just 21 months. He described the achievement as a testament to the government’s administrative resolve and commitment.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao alleged that the previous YSRCP government had neglected houses that had already been completed by 2019. He alleged that nearly ₹300 crore was misused under the pretext of repainting, while critical infrastructure such as cement roads, drinking water supply, drainage systems and sewage treatment facilities remained unaddressed. The decision to leave completed houses unoccupied, despite beneficiaries having made payments, was a glaring example of administrative apathy and governance failure, he said.

He said the coalition government mobilised resources and expedited pending works. Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said housing construction and distribution programmes would be expanded at an accelerated pace in the coming months, with the ultimate objective of ensuring that every poor family in the State secures a home of their own.
