State-owned Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) is targeting to add 85 new compressed natural gas (CNG) stations in the next two years, Director for Finance Rakesh Kumar Jain told investors in an analyst call on Monday (February 2, 2026).
Mr. Jain also told investors that GAIL estimates to scale 134 to 135 million standard cubic meters per day (MSCMD) of volume for gas transmission in FY 2027. He also exuded confidence in concluding the ongoing financial year with a gas transmission volume of 124 to 125 MSCMD.
Further, in response to a query about the global gas supply situation, the Director for Finance held the prices are expected to soften. “[Global] Gas supply is abundantly available from the coming financial year. A lot of capacities are coming on stream, and they are helping the price to go down, therefore, we expect prices to soften” he stated, adding, “In fact, we have a lot of offers available at competitive price[s] and that will also increase the boost of gas consumption in our price-sensitive market.”
Separately, Mr. Jain also told investors that GAIL aspires to spur their gas sourcing by at least 6-7 MTPA by 2030, from 17 MTPA at present. He added, “When we see more demand, which is likely to come, we will take a call.”
The state-owned natural gas company also informed that it expects to incur ₹9,000-10,000 crore worth capital expenditure in the upcoming financial year. The figure does not factor in new projects.
Additionally, the state-owned distributor estimates to scale 109 to 110 MSCMD in volumes with their natural gas marketing segment in the coming financial year, Mr. Jain informed.
Earlier in the call, the GAIL Director had also stated that the company would be “actively considering participating” in bidding for new petroleum and petroleum product pipelines, largely LPG pipelines.
GAIL had informed January 31 that their natural gas pipeline network length had crossed 18,000 kilometres at the end of the third quarter.
