Fee hike row: parents protest outside Delhi Education Dept.
Distressed parents of several students from Delhi Public School (DPS), Dwarka, on Monday staged a protest outside the Directorate of Education (DoE), alleging coercive actions by the private school in south-west Delhi to recover “unapproved” increased fees.
At least 25 parents said they have received emails, threatening to strike off the names of several students from their rolls and withheld the report-cum-progress cards of some others for not paying the alleged increased fees.
The aggrieved parents requested the DoE to intervene and help resolve the issue. They highlighted that the Delhi High Court, in its April and June 2025 orders, clearly stated that the school should not take any coercive actions over fee disputes. The parents requested a DoE takeover of the school as per the Delhi School Education Act, 1973.
