Abhishek Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav combined to drop 3 catches in the IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2025 clash in Dubai on Sunday

India’s poor day out in the field allowed Pakistan a chance to put up a fight in their Asia Cup 2025 clash on Sunday. The Men in Blue started out as favourties given the gulf in the two sides. However, the some lacklustre fielding allowed Salman Agha’s side to race away to a good start in the crunch IND vs PAK clash in Dubai.

Butter fingers! Abhishek Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav in India’s fielding nightmare

India could have had a first over wicket again but Abhishek Sharma had a howler on the boundary. Sahibzada going for the big hit off Hardik and Sharma completely misjudged the ball to spill a rather straightforward chances. Things went on worse for Abhishek later, as he shelled a difficult catch on the boundary off Varun Chakrvarthy.

Farhan made the most of his repireves, scoring a fine half-century in Dubai. Kuldeep Yadav was also guilty of a drop, handing Saim Ayub a rare chance. The Pakistan star has had a tournament to forget and it looked set to continue after he top edged Chakravarthy in the 5th over. However, Kuldeep at short fine made a complete mess of it to allow Ayub to get away with it.

What could have easily been a couple of wickets down inside the powerplay, Pakistan built on it and made it their highest powerplay score vs India in T20Is. The Men in Green scored 55/1 in the first 6, surpassing 54/0 in Ahmedabad in 2012. Pakistan managed 91 at the end of 10 overs, the highest against India in the Asia Cup 2025.

Abhishek later made amends with a stunner to dismiss Ayub. The Indian opener covered a lot of ground and took a diving catch to break the 72-run partnership. Despite Sharma’s stunner, India’s catching needs work on. As per cricbuzz, Surya and Co have the third worst catching efficiency at Asia Cup 2025, ahead of only Sri Lanka and Hong Kong.
