Three held for duping retired Army officer
Three men posing as Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) officials have been arrested for running an inter-State cyber fraud racket that duped dozens of people, including a retired Army officer, through malicious mobile applications, the Delhi police said on Wednesday.
The fraud came to light after the retired 61-year-old Army officer reported losing ₹91,449 to fraudsters who posed as IGL representatives and persuaded him to install a malicious application, which gave them access to his banking information.
The accused, arrested from West Bengal, were identified as Bickey Mandal, 22, Sumit Kumar Singh, 26, and 22-year-old Rajeev Kumar Mandal, the police said, adding that further probe is under way to analyse the digital trail.
