
Compensation distributed to families of children who drowned in canal in Srirangapatna
The State government has sanctioned financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to the families of four students of an educational institution in Mysuru, who had drowned in a canal in Srirangapatna taluk on November 1, 2025 under tragic circumstances.
The students, namely, Ayesha, Umme Hani, Saniya Parveen, and Afrina, were from a seminary located within the Udayagiri police station area, which falls under the Narasimharaja assembly constituency in Mysuru. They were part of a group of students taken by their institution’s management to a water body in the Arakere police station limits of Srirangapatna, without notifying their parents or guardians.
The four girls had drowned when they got into the water.
In response to an appeal from Tanveer Sait, the MLA for the Narasimharaja Assembly constituency, and M. Lakshman, the Congress candidate for the Mysuru Lok Sabha constituency, the Chief Minister condoled the death of the four girls and approved a relief of ₹2 lakh each to the families of the deceased children on humanitarian grounds.
After the Deputy Commissioner was directed to disburse the sanctioned amount, Mr. Sait and Mr. Lakshmana distributed the cheques to the families of the deceased girls in Mysuru on Thursday.
