Mumbai, Rajasthan start strong in 72 The League


The 16-year-old Kartik Singh proved he belonged with the big boys, leading American Jhared Hack of Nava Raipur till the very last for Mumbai Aces before the latter pulled back with a birdie to share points on the opening day of the PGTI’s 72 The League at the Classic Golf & Country Club.

In another match, Rajasthan Regals started off well to finish the day unbeaten against the Kolkata Classics, winning both their singles games and the foursomes before Akshay Sharma and Jairaj Singh Sandhu held Khalin Joshi and Angad Cheema to a tie.

The last match of the day, a fourball between Nava Raipur’s Shivendra Singh Sisodia and Mohammed Azhar against Tapendra Ghai and Kushal Singh of Mumbai Aces had to be stopped midway due to fading light and will be completed next Monday.

Meanwhile, the second round of the league will be played on Tuesday at the Jaypee Greens Golf Course in Noida with Rajasthan Regals taking on Charminar Champions, Kolkata Classics facing Mumbai Aces and UP Prometheans up against Nava Raipur.
