Telangana CM seeks assessment of AI-driven job displacement and investments in reskilling, job creation

Amidst prevailing discussions across the world about the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on jobs in some sectors, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy proposed a national-level assessment of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven job displacement, complemented with huge investments in re-skilling and job creation.

He has also proposed efforts to be taken up immediately to manufacture GPU chips and integrate India into the global AI supply chain. Speaking at the India AI Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Friday (February 20, 2026), the Chief Minister touched upon subjects for India to lead across all layers of AI, establishment of institutional Framework for AI Governance, the need for the country to host AI summits every six months and other aspects.

Besides the chip manufacturing, Mr. Reddy proposed that the country should lead in green energy and data storage, applications and AI-driven services and platforms and core AI languages. 

To track developments in AI

He pitched for a national AI War Room with participation from the Centre and States to monitor the rapid developments in the AI sector and Hyderabad’s readiness to build such a War Room.

Support for youth-led AI inovations

To support start ups and encourage youth-led AI innovation, he proposed formation of a national AI fund, and establish an AI Start-up Village serving the entire nation, with support from the Centre. 

Mr. Reddy said that while earlier inventions enhanced physical strength of humans, AI challenges human intellectual supremacy, and, when combined with robotics, creates systems with both mental and physical capabilities. The Chief Minister invited global and national institutions to partner with Telangana in advancing AI innovation and governance.
