
CM announces projects worth ₹135 crore for Mehrauli
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday announced projects worth over ₹135 crore to boost civic infrastructure in the Mehrauli Assembly constituency.
“These projects in the historic Mehrauli area mark a significant step towards comprehensive rejuvenation of the region and addressing its long-pending basic infrastructure needs. For the first time, the Delhi government has ensured that there is no shortage of funds for development work, enabling timely and comprehensive implementation of projects across all Assembly constituencies,” read a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office.
In the pipeline
The projects include reconstructing and repairing roads, renovating dilapidated ‘chaupals’ and community buildings, constructing public toilets, beautifying parks, installing swings for children, and providing new open gym equipment for the youth and senior citizens.
The CM said that upon completion of these works, traffic movement in the area will become smoother, public spaces will be safer, and citizens will benefit from an improved quality of life.
The CM said that Mehrauli is not merely an Assembly constituency, but a living symbol of Delhi’s ancient cultural and historical heritage. “Home to Maa Yogmaya Temple, gurdwaras, the Iron Pillar, the Archaeological Park and several historic monuments, this land has witnessed thousands of years of history,” she said.
The Chief Minister said several important projects will be taken up on priority keeping in view the overall development of the Assembly constituency. She said the proposed Badarpur-Mehrauli elevated road project will provide major relief to traffic management in the area. Besides this, priority will be given to the construction of multi-level parking facilities, a modern hospital with a capacity of 100 to 200 beds, sports grounds for youth, and community buildings to strengthen civic amenities, the CMO said in a statement.
